Crystal jewellery set (18' necklace, 7.75' bracelet)

Green, White, and Violet were the colours chosen as a secret symbol and worn as jewellery by the Suffragettes to represent their cause “Give Women the Vote!”

In 1848, at a tea party in New York, the “Women’s Rights Movement” was born. The right to vote was finally obtained after a half century of struggle, and in Quebec, that right wasn’t realized until 1940! In the ‘60’s, feminism and women’s lib ensured a recognised equality of intellect, and now after another half century, North American women are free to make choices on every facet of their lives. We can only hope that in the near future all women of the world will celebrate these rights and freedoms.

Today, I am using these colours to represent my appreciation for the rights , freedoms and privileges those women fought for. The joyful figure emerging from the sterling silver is celebrating those women, and the star represents our dreams; strive to realize them!
