I-Hos '98

Limited Edition of 200 prints by Calvin Hunt.

"I-Hos is a 32' Northern style canoe, sister of Maxwalaogwa. This canoe was carved for the Comox Band by Mervyn Child and myself in 1994 with the Sisiutl design (double-headed serpent_, which was chosen to help protect its' pullers. It carries eight pullers and one steersman. This vessel is similar in style to her sister canoe, with the exaggerated bow that has been done mainly for design purposes."--Calvin Hunt.

This canoe, along with Maxalwaogwa, was involved in the opening ceremonies for both the Commonwealth Games '95, and the North American Indigenous Games '97, in Victoria, B.C., as well as in many activites of the Comox Band.

The print is hand produced by the screenprinting process. Half the edition is on Stonehenge cover white, and the other half on fawn. Paper size: 18.5 x 76.5 cm., image size: 12 x 69 cm.
